The tour program
1st day: RAVENNA - PESARO
Departure by bus and arrival in Ravenna in the morning. Lunch in a restaurant. In the early afternoon visit of the old town with its many wonders: the mausoleum of Galla Placidia, the Basilica of San Vitale, the Neoniano Baptistery, the Cathedral, the Basilica of San Francesco, Piazza del Popolo and the tomb of the famous Italian poet Dante Alighieri. Transfer to Pesaro, hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.
2nd day: URBINO - FANO
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by bus to Fano. Visit of the old town with its most important places: the Palazzo del Podestà and the Palazzo Malatestiano. Continue through the streets of the historic center, visit to the Malatesta Fortress and lunch in a restaurant. In the early afternoon, transfer to Urbino, Raphael’s and the Renaissance city. Visit of the historic center and tour of the Doge’s Palace which houses the National Gallery of the Marche. Next to the Doge’s Palace you will find the Cathedral. Continuing on you arrive in Piazza della Repubblica where you will admire a unique fountain designed by Diomede Catalucci. Walk to Raphael’s birthplace, whose 500th anniversary of his death was celebrated in 2020. Return to Pesaro, dinner at the hotel and overnight stay.
3rd day: LORETO - RECANATI
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Loreto and visit of the city with its fascinating monuments including the Basilica of Loreto, piazza della Madonna, the Apostolic palace, the monument to Pope Sixtus V, the Palazzo della Provincia, the Aqueduct of the Arches and the Fontana Maggiore. Internal tour of the Basilica. Lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon, transfer to Recanati and tour of Giacomo Leopardi’ s library which is attached to his house which cannot be visited as it is inhabited by the heirs of the poet. After visiting the library, we will proceed by entering what was the Silvia’s house. Continue with a visit to the “Saturday of the Village” square where the poem with the same name was set. This will then be followed by a visit to Mount Tabor, a wooded park where Giacomo spent much of his free time. Return to Pesaro in the evening, dinner at the hotel and overnight stay.
4th day: BOLOGNA - FERRARA
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Bologna. Visit of the wonderful old town of the capital of Emilia Romagna with its many monuments: Neptune, known as the “Giant”, Piazza Maggiore, the immense Basilica of San Petronio, the Asinelli Tower and Piazza Santo Stefano. Lunch in a restaurant. In the early afternoon, transfer by bus to the city of Ferrara. Panoramic visit of the old town followed by free time. At the end, return by bus to go back home.
